Phaiku was created as a means to showcase photography in an interesting style. The word "Phaiku" is a combination of the words Picture & Haiku. It is simply a photograph with an attached Haiku.
I believe that by attaching a poem to a photo, all of a sudden, the photo takes on a new energy. It takes on a purpose and is given a new dimension to which people can relate & invest themselves.
I hope you find whatever you are looking for in the phaikus of phaiku.com
The Inspiration
One day, as I was reading a Japanese Green Tea bottle, and I noticed a simple haiku written on the side. In that moment it occurred to me - it would be pretty cool to combine a haiku with a photograph... and that weekend, Phaiku.com was created.
The Photographs
Each photograph represents a different location around the world.
The Haikus
In 6th grade Reading class, we had the assignment of writing haikus and posting them on the walls around the classroom. So when I noticed the haiku printed on the Japanese Green Tea bottle, it brought me back to that moment, and I rediscovered my fondness for the simple, yet dynamic, 5-7-5 syllable format haiku.
